The Bio Berries vision
A closer look at the vision for fresh, Manitoba-grown strawberries produced through advanced controlled-environment agriculture.
The project
Bio Berries Farms is developing a modern controlled-environment agriculture project designed to strengthen Manitoba’s supply of fresh strawberries.
The proposed greenhouse will combine proven horticultural systems, precise climate control and efficient resource use. The goal is simple: grow consistently excellent berries near the people who buy them, while creating a resilient Canadian food-production asset.

Why it matters
More domestic production means a stronger, more dependable supply of fresh fruit in every season.
Growing near Winnipeg shortens the journey from greenhouse to retailer—and from shelf to table.
The project is designed to create skilled, year-round work and support a network of Canadian suppliers.
Controlled growing enables precise use of water, nutrients, energy and crop inputs.

The growing environment and energy strategy are being planned together—from the beginning.
Founder-led
Bio Berries Farms was founded by Manitoba entrepreneur Hillary Proctor.
After building and operating Leaf Landscaping for more than a decade, Hillary brings hands-on business ownership, project coordination and a long-term commitment to Manitoba. Bio Berries began with a question: why shouldn’t more of the berries Manitobans buy be grown right here?
“The opportunity is bigger than growing strawberries. It’s about building durable food infrastructure for Manitoba.”
Let’s grow something lasting
Bio Berries Farms welcomes conversations with retailers, growers, technology partners, lenders and aligned investors.
